The Malbork Castle is one of the greatest fortress of medieval Europe. This 13th-century fortified monastery belonged to the Teutonic Order. The Middle and High Castles as well as the defensive walls with their towers and gates are very impressive. Visitors can admire the ingeniousness of medieval masters who projected a system of central heating, not very common in the medieval times. A particularly fine example of a medieval brick castle, following severe damage in the Second World War, was professionally restored.
